Joint Pain

What’s causing your joint pain?

Our providers perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine the reasoning for your joint pain, in order to prescribe an individualized treatment plan tailored to you.
Please note that joint pain may be caused by osteoarthritis, inflammation, ligament and tendon sprain/strains, muscle imbalances, and more. Understanding the true nature and cause of why you’re experiencing pain is vital to start your healing journey.

When should I seek medical care?

If you notice redness, joint deformity, swelling, or reduced range of motion, please contact our office immediately for an evaluation.
Joint pain can occur in any joint. If you are experiencing persistent and/or severe pain that limits your ability to complete everyday tasks, you should be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.

What treatments are recommended for joint pain?

The Doctors at Modern Movement Medicine are joint specialists. If over-the-counter medications aren’t helping, or if you feel dependent on taking over-the-counter or prescription medications to alleviate your pain, further assessment is required to ensure that the situation doesn’t worsen.
Your treatment plan may include the following recommendations:
Joint Injections
Physical therapy
Chiropractic care
Trigger Point Injections
Dietary changes
Supplements and Nutraceuticals
Massage Therapy, Acupuncture
Joint injections are recommended on a case by case basis and depend on the nature of your injury.
Physical therapy can help strengthen or relax the muscles surrounding the affected joint and is important to heal and prevent future flare ups.
Chiropractic care is typically recommended for both acute and especially chronic joint pain issues. If a joint is not moving well and affecting surrounding soft tissue, or compromising other joint structures, it is important to correct these misalignments to alleviate restriction and for rehabilitation to be effective.
Trigger Point Injections are composed of 99% saline solution and 1% lidocaine. The purpose of these injections are to help “dissolve” hardened muscle tissue that may be limiting your range of motion.
Dietary changes are especially beneficial in cases of chronic systemic inflammation. If your Doctor believes that your diet may be contributing to your overall inflammation, this will be addressed.
Supplements and Nutraceuticals can be especially beneficial to aid in regenerative therapies, and are typically prescribed with any regenerative treatment. Additional supplements may also be recommended on an individual or as needed basis.
Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and other ancillary modalities may also be recommended on an individual basis.
