Revolutionizing Healthcare: How Modern Movement Medicine Blends Regenerative Medicine with Chiropractic & Physical Rehabilitation

At Modern Movement Medicine, we believe that true healing comes from treating the root cause —not just masking symptoms with medications or resorting to unnecessary surgeries. That’s why we’ve pioneered a revolutionary approach, integrating regenerative medicine, chiropractic care, and Schroth-based physical therapy (focusing on the body’s asymmetries) to restore optimal function, mobility, and well-being for our patients.

A New Standard in Healthcare

We’re setting a new standard in healthcare.

Traditional healthcare often relies on prescription medications or invasive procedures that typically provide only temporary relief.  At our clinic, we take a different path—one that relies on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. By combining precise chiropractic adjustments and customized physical therapy plans with regenerative medicine our goal is to truly restore function and provide long-lasting relief.

The Most Specific Chiropractic Care - the Gonstead Technique

Our chiropractors go beyond traditional adjustments. Using state-of-the-art digital X-rays and the Nervoscope—a specialized tool that detects nerve inflammation—we pinpoint exactly which nerve(s) need attention. This allows us to deliver precise, targeted adjustments that relieve pressure on the nervous system, improving function and alleviating pain from its source.  It's important to note that nerves control muscular function, which is the next step on our patients journey.

Precise Physical Rehabilitation

Schroth-based physical therapy, a method that focuses on asymmetrical exercises tailored to an individual's postural imbalances. This approach is particularly effective for scoliosis and chronic pain conditions. By correcting asymmetries and retraining movement patterns, we help our patients regain strength, balance, and pain-free mobility.

Regenerative Medicine: Healing at the Cellular Level

Regenerative medicine harnesses the body’s own healing mechanisms. Natural bioregenerative agents stimulate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery. These advanced therapies are particularly effective for joint pain, ligament injuries, degenerative disc disease, and other musculoskeletal conditions that have not responded well to other treatments.

No Chemicals, No Surgery—Just Results

We believe in treating physical problems with physical medicine. Many of our patients come to us after being let down by conventional healthcare—enduring years of treatments that only suppress symptoms without solving the root of the problem. Our unique approach allows us to take on even the most complex cases and offer real solutions for those who thought they had exhausted all of their options.

Why Choose Modern Movement Medicine?

If you or a loved one have been struggling with chronic pain, injury, or limited mobility and haven’t found answers elsewhere, Modern Movement Medicine is here to offer real solutions. Our team of experts is ready to guide you toward a pain-free, active, and healthy life.

Dr. Alyssa Kurth

Facial aesthetics is the art of enhancing natural beauty—balancing symmetry, harmony, and expression to create a radiant, confident look.

Microneedling using the SkinPen device, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic
procedure that involves fine needles creating controlled micro-injuries at a rate of 1600 per second on the skin's surface. These tiny punctures stimulate the skin's natural healing process, which promotes collagen and elastin production. This can improve the texture, tone, and appearance of the skin. The goal is to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and promote overall youthful-looking skin. Best of all, SkinPen doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals, so the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types. While many people report improvements in skin tone, texture, and radiance, results tend to be gradual and cumulative over multiple sessions. In a clinical study, 90% of patients said they would recommend SkinPen.

Some common uses of microneedling include:
*Reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
*Treating acne scars.
*Improving skin texture and elasticity.
*Minimizing large pores.
*Fading stretch marks.

While the procedure is minimally invasive, it's important to follow aftercare instructions carefully to avoid infections or other complications. It typically requires several sessions to see the best results, depending on the severity of the skin concern as well as what bioactive molecules are used during and after the procedure, such as snail mucin or other growth factors that contain beneficial proteins, lipids, and RNA. These products help promote skin regeneration and rejuvenation to stimulate the skin’s natural repair mechanisms and boost collagen and elastin production, promoting faster repair and rejuvenation of the skin, which helps improve skin structure and elasticity, and increase hydration and radiance, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and helping improve skin hydration and create a glowing, radiant complexion and can aid cellular repair and in the healing of damaged skin, making them beneficial for conditions like acne scarring or hyperpigmentation.

Considerations and Aftercare:
Minimal Downtime: Most people experience little to no downtime after microneedling. You most likely will experience redness or irritation to the skin, usually subsiding within a few hours to several days. It usually looks and feels like a bad sunburn for at least the first few hours after the procedure.

Multiple Sessions: To see significant improvements, a series of treatments is often recommended.

Sun Protection: It’s essential to protect the skin from the sun after microneedling, as the skin
may be more sensitive. But you must wait until 24 hours after your procedure to apply sunscreen so plan your day of the procedure accordingly to avoid sun exposure.

Consultation: It’s important to consult with a licensed skincare professional to ensure that
microneedling is suitable for your skin type and concerns and to which regenerative product should be included in your session to be the most appropriate for your skin type and goals.

Overall, microneedling represents an exciting and innovative approach to anti-aging and skin
rejuvenation, leveraging the regenerative power of bioactive molecules for smoother, healthier,
and more youthful skin.

What are they going to find? Is this going to work? After the appointment is over you check out at the front desk feeling a little better about your concerns, questions, and the unknown. ere at Modern Movement we see you. We care about your health and wellness, we want to give you the tools to provide you with as much relief as possible and to continue the things in life you love. Up at the front desk it’s not just about scheduling appointments or handling paperwork; it’s about observing and experiencing the journey of patient improvement. Here’s a closer look at how the front desk staff at our office sees patients get better.

The First Impression and Initial Struggles

For many, this first visit is filled with anxiety and skepticism. Patients might be dealing with chronic pain, limited mobility, or a general sense of frustration with their health. The front desk team plays a crucial role in setting a positive tone, providing comfort, and answering any questions that might arise.

During these early visits, the front desk staff are keenly aware of the patients' initial struggles. They notice the physical and emotional challenges as patients navigate their way through their first few appointments. It's not uncommon for patients to appear hesitant or doubtful about the treatment’s effectiveness at this stage.

Tracking Progress Over Time

As patients continue their care, the front desk staff become witnesses to the incremental changes that occur. They see firsthand how the frequency of visits assists patients relief from their symptoms. They might observe a shift in the patients' demeanor—from hesitant and reserved to confident and optimistic.

Patients often share their personal milestones with the front desk staff. Whether it’s a significant reduction in pain, improved mobility, or the ability to return to activities they once enjoyed, these moments are celebrated and cherished by everyone in the office. The front desk team, although not directly involved in the treatment, feels a sense of pride and accomplishment in these victories.

Building Relationships and Encouraging Continuity

One of the most rewarding aspects of the front desk role is developing relationships with patients over time. As they interact with patients regularly, they become familiar with their stories and struggles. This personal connection can be incredibly motivating for patients. The encouragement and support provided by the front desk staff often play a subtle but significant role in keeping patients committed to their treatment plans.

The front desk staff also play a critical role in educating patients about the importance of following through with their care. They often remind patients of the long-term benefits of consistency and adherence to their treatment schedules. Their ongoing support and encouragement help reinforce the patient’s commitment to their care.

Witnessing the Transformations

One of the most fulfilling aspects of our job at the front desk is witnessing the transformations that occur as patients progress through their treatment.

They see the initial signs of improvement, such as reduced discomfort and enhanced movement, and observe the profound impact on patients’ overall quality of life.

They also notice the emotional changes. Patients who once seemed burdened by pain often leave the office with a renewed sense of hope and positivity. The joy and relief in patients' faces as they report improvements or share good news are deeply gratifying for the front desk team.

A Collective Effort

While the front desk staff does not administer treatments, our role is integral to the overall patient experience. We provide a supportive environment that helps patients feel valued and heard. Our observations and interactions contribute to the collective effort of the team to facilitate patient recovery.

At Modern Movement each patient is valued and appreciated.

Here at Modern Movement Medicine we provide specific and quality Gonstead Chiropractic. Our Gonstead Chiropractors go above and beyond taking the time to conduct a thorough analysis of your spine using a 5 step analysis to determine the presence/location and the root cause of the symptoms you may be experiencing.

The 5 step analysis includes:

Visualization- We ask all of our patients to wear a gown each visit, this will allow your chiropractor see subtle changes in your posture.

Instrumentation- The instrument of choice that both Gonstead Chiropractors here at our office use is the Nervoscope. Dr. Alyssa and Dr. Brittany will glide this Nervoscope down your spine at every visit. The job of the Nervoscope is to detect uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can be indicative of inflammation and nerve pressure. This and full spine x-rays allows us here at Modern Movement Medicine to better serve you by being as specific as possible with your adjustments.

Static Palpation- Your Gonstead Chiropractor will feel or palpate your spine without movement to detect pockets of edema/swelling or tenderness in the spine caused by irritation of the nerves.

Motion Palpation- We then move to feeling or palpating with movement so determine how the joint is moving or more importantly NOT moving.

X-Ray Analysis- The last but certainly not the least step of this analysis is full spine x rays. These x-rays are helpful in evaluating joint and disc integrity, vertebral misalignments and also allow us to rule out any pathologies, or recent fractures that may be present or contributing to your condition.

Our goal as Gonstead Chiropractors is to provide the most specific care giving you relief of symptoms. Here are some symptoms patient experience relief from: Allergies, Sleep, Fatigue, Colds, Pain and more.

Gonstead care is also removing interference in your nervous system. Here at Modern Movement Medicine we aim to help your body function at its optimal level and improve your quality of life.

Many of us at some point in time have either heard of stretching, stretched ourselves, or have had manual stretching done by a professional. However it still leaves the question of “Why is stretching so important?”. For us to better understand that we must first understand and have knowledge of what “Stretching” actually is.

By definition stretching is, “a form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon is deliberately expanded and flexed in order to improve the muscle's felt elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone.” In simple terms stretching is the process of elongating our muscles and or tendons to improve our flexibility.

So why is that so important to our physical well beings? Well according to Harvard Health, on average humans will sit on average for about 10 hours a day. This puts an incredible strain on our hamstrings as well as our hip flexors.Which many people complain about low back pain and or hip pain. These muscles are all directly connected to either our back and or other connecting muscles. This could go for any activity, sleeping, crouching, the horrible posture positions are endless as well as the muscles involved in keeping us in them.

When our muscles are constantly over used they become as the common word we know “Tight” There are several ways which we can fix this. Massage, trigger point, and even stretching which is the most easily accessed by anyone anywhere.

So what exactly are the benefits of stretching?

The best part is stretching only requires 5-20 minutes everyday, and over a several week period one will start to notice an increase in range of motion as well as the elasticity of their body. With the plethora of stretches one is able to do, the ability for anyone of any age, strength, or weight is able to perform and execute several of these!

PRP is a Regenerative Treatment changing the game for both joint pain and aesthetic medicine.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a modern day regenerative medicine treatment. It is used to treat both musculoskeletal conditions (such as arthritis, joint pain, tendon and ligament tears) as well as for aesthetic procedures (think hair restoration, facial rejuvenation, and more).

This quick, non-surgical procedure involves extracting a small amount of the patient’s blood, spinning it to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, and then re-injecting the concentrated Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) directly into the desired treatment area.

PRP harnesses the body’s natural healing properties of platelets. Platelets contain growth factors that stimulate the repair of damaged tissues all while reducing inflammation. PRP injections aim to reduce pain, expedite healing and rescue both skin and hair, making PRP an attractive option for many conditions and aesthetic treatments.

When is PRP recommended over other joint treatments?

Studies comparing PRP to hyaluronic acid and cortisone injections have shown PRP to be superior at reducing pain at 3, 6 and at 12 months post injection.

Additional evidence is coming to light which suggests cortisone injections. It can often cause more harm than good long term because they often cause soft tissue degeneration in and around the affected joint leading to worse outcomes. Hyaluronic acid injections provide cushioning to the joint, however it does not alter the chemistry or reduce inflammation in the joint. PRP proves more beneficial because it provides longer pain relief, natural joint cushioning, and other healing elements all by simply allowing the body to heal itself.

Can PRP really help my hair grow back and make my skin look younger?

Yes! For hair growth, the growth factors in PRP help to stimulate the hair follicles, thereby promoting new hair growth and hair thickness. For facial rejuvenation, PRP is applied to the face using micro needling or injected into a specific area. PRP injected into the skin has been found to stimulate collagen production, improving skin texture and

elasticity. For facial rejuvenation, PRP is applied to the face using micro needling or injected into a specific area. For facial rejuvenation, PRP is applied to the face using micro needling or injected into a specific area. PRP injected into the skin has been found to stimulate collagen production, improving skin texture and

elasticity. It smoothes out wrinkles and reduces fine lines. PRP enhances one's overall skin tone and texture, giving a more youthful appearance.

Is PRP Safe?

Yes. While there are some inherent risks such as infection associated with

any injection procedure, PRP boasts a less than 1% risk of infection. It is natural and safe, because it involves using the patient’s own blood, minimizing the risk of adverse reactions. Other risks include bruising, bleeding or tenderness at the injection site for up to a few days. The injection itself can be painful, but this is often reduced with the use of numbing agents.

Are all PRP treatments the same?

No. Generally speaking, all PRP treatments should involve taking a small amount of blood from the patient, centrifugation (spinning), and then re-injection back into the patient. At Modern Movement, located in Wilsonville, OR, (just 20 minutes South of Portland), we hold our Providers to the highest standards. Recent research suggests that platelet concentration should be between 1 and 1.5 million platelets per microliter. For hair and joint restoration, you want this number to be closer to 1.5 million. For facial rejuvenation, the concentration should be closer to 1 million. Modern Movement uses the most clinically relevant centrifuges and platelet collection tubes to guarantee the correct concentration
needed for treatment. Anyone considering PRP treatment should be wary of “Group-ons” or other “cheap” PRP treatments, due to the fact that not all PRP kits are created equal! Conclusion

PRP is a promising avenue for both aesthetic medicine and treating musculoskeletal conditions.

By leveraging the body's own healing powers, we can now redirect the body's most potent immune system cells to targeted areas. The treatment is not only minimally invasive, quick and convenient, its results are typically long-lasting with many providers and patients reporting positive outcomes.

Arthritis doesn't have to rule your life.  Learn how to prevent it from progressing and get the relief you need at Modern Movement Medicine!

Understanding Arthritis

Arthritis is a debilitating condition characterized by chronic pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility, negatively impacting one's quality of life by interfering with their daily activities. Traditional treatments, such as medication, chiropractic care and physical therapy, aim to manage symptoms but typically need recurring treatments in order to effectively provide long-term relief.  Advances in regenerative medicine, such as stem cell therapy, may change that.

Arthritis encompasses over 100 different types of joint diseases, with osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) being the most common.

Will Stem Cell Therapy Transform Modern Medicine?

Stem cell therapy addresses the root cause of joint degeneration. Stem cells have the unique capability to reverse the progression of osteoarthritis by differentiating into various cell types, such as cartilage, bone, and muscle, making them ideal candidates for regenerative therapies.  Stem cells also have immunomodulatory properties that can reduce inflammation, which is currently being explored for autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.  Current studies have demonstrated that stem cell injections can significantly reduce pain and improve joint function!

The Future of Arthritis Treatment

The future of arthritis treatment will combine both traditional and regenerative medicine therapies.  Stem cell therapy used in conjunction with traditional treatments such as chiropractic and physical therapy seem to provide the best patient outcomes.  It is hypothesized that by:

used in combination with one another will provide the best patient outcome measures by addressing the root cause of the arthritic joint in question.

These innovative therapies offer hope for millions of arthritis sufferers worldwide!  With continued investment in research and development, the cure for arthritis will soon become a reality!
